Let’s hear what the students, parents, and teachers had to say about the reading week.
“春暖书香——我是超级阅读者” 维多利亚徐汇园2021年阅读周主题活动，已圆满落下帷幕。在本次阅读周活动中，整个学习者社区中，孩子、家长、老师紧密合作，发挥了自己的能动性，让阅读周有声有色，富有趣味和创意。在不同形式的阅读中，激发学习者社区中每位成员对于阅读的兴趣。
让我们一起回顾阅读周，并且来听听孩子、爸爸妈妈、老师们的感受吧。

Children Have Agency
孩子掌握自主权
Teachers witnessed that our students had a love of vibrant and interesting storybooks. The students had the chance to choose books that were highly popular for both students and teachers alike. Now let’s experience the stories through the eyes of the children!
老师们发现，许多孩子都特别喜欢生动有趣的绘本故事。孩子们充分使用选择权，为自己的班级选择了一本大家都喜欢的书，作为阅读周的推荐绘本。现在让我们一起感受一下孩子们眼中的经典故事吧！

Kevin：“阅读能让我们的大脑变得更厉害。”
Emilio said that seeing pictures of people doing things helped us learn how to do the same things.
Andy:“对话泡泡里的句子和我们可以互相说的句子是一样的。看到故事中的snap words也帮助我们学会了自己读写。”
Hugo said that we could learn about space when reading books.
Annie:“阅读时，当我们看到书上的图画能帮助我们思考如何画和写我们自己的故事。”

Students’ Favorite Activity: At the end of Reading Week, we asked students to reflect on their favorite activities and reading week as a whole. Although they had different preferences, they all agreed that the week was very fun and full of joy. The “Storybook Character Fashion Show” on Friday was by far the favorite amongst the K1A class. The children were eagerly waiting all week to dress up as their favorite characters and share with the school. They were all so excited to walk on the red carpet and confidently show off their outfits.
孩子最喜欢的活动：在这次活动的尾声，我们请孩子们回忆了自己在阅读周最喜欢的活动以及他们对活动的感受。孩子们都异口同声地表示：这周的活动很开心！有很多好玩的活动！（活动形式丰富多样！）另外，本次最受欢迎的活动就是周五的Fashion Show！孩子们早就期待自己能装扮成喜欢的绘本人物，在红毯上神气、自信地向大家展示自己的风采了！

For K1B's reading picture book "The HungryCaterpillar", the children had many things to say:
K1B：对于本次的阅读绘本《好饿的毛毛虫》，小朋友们有话要说：
—I like colorful butterflies (in the story) because they are beautiful.
—我喜欢（故事中的）棒棒糖，好吃、甜甜的。每天只能吃一根哟。
—I like caterpillars. We learn that eating too many things will hurt our stomachs.
—我喜欢（故事中的）香肠，因为我也喜欢吃香肠。
—I like watermelon (in the story) because watermelon is very sweet and I also like eating habits.
—我喜欢（故事中的）的香蕉，因为好吃。
—I like the ice cream in (in the story), but I can’t eat more.

Parent Involvement
家长行使发言权
As soon as the activity schedule for Reading Week was sent out, parents in our learning community hurried to sign up to participate. They all brought a wide variety of rich and interesting stories toread to our students. Thanks to the parents for their active role in participating and cooperating during reading week! Let’s hear some of the parents thoughts about Reading Week.

“阅读周”活动结束后，袁则跟我们说：“书是我最好的朋友，而阅读是最有趣的事情。最棒的玩具是我妈妈每天带给我的新书。你们知道吗，过去的整个星期，我们都在谈论阅读和书籍，还有比这更令人兴奋的事儿吗？！”
感谢维多利亚徐汇园组织如此有意义的活动，也有幸参与其中。面对听故事时一张张可爱而兴奋的小脸，真心感觉春暖书香，充满希望。

春光美如斯，正是读书时，阅读可以丰富儿童对世界的认知。
在这个四月的春日阅读周，从故事爸爸到访，用皮影戏的形式生动演绎绘本故事，到充满童趣的小小朗读者；从以书换书，到故事表演，最后一天的故事角色扮演日更是充分激发了孩子们的阅读兴趣和探索世界的好奇心。
阅读的过程中不仅仅是家长讲给孩子听，更重要的是孩子用自己的方式向家长表达，可以是复述故事、也可以是一起表演故事，扮演故事中的角色，创编新的故事等。
相信每一个维多利亚的孩子都能通过阅读成为终身的学习者！

刚报名故事妈妈的时候，既兴奋又紧张，担心到时会不会冷场。但当在班级里开始讲故事时，才发现之前的担心完全是多余的。小朋友们每个都睁大眼睛仔细地聆听故事的每一个细节，并且踊跃参与所有的互动环节。十五分钟的故事时间一眨眼就过去了，故事妈妈却仍有些意犹未尽。感谢学校提供这次机会，希望将来能多多走进教室给孩子们继续讲故事。

Thanks to the K2 class for inviting me to read a book to the kids. It was an absolute pleasure to be there and see the joy in their eyes when they listened to the story. Reading books to kids is an effective sensory activity for listening, focusing and development of imagination. It also improves their vocabulary and
communication skills. Reading is fun and great for social and emotional development. Thanks to the teachers for the invitation and thanks to all the kids who listened carefully.

故事阅读能激发小朋友的想象力和同理心，也是和孩子们高质量相处的好时光。这次难得有机会走进课堂里和小朋友们一起阅读。看着小朋友一张张专注入迷的小脸，觉得很感动。小宝宝们都已长大成为了爱故事、喜欢学习的小朋友。希望往后能有更多这样的机会，和孩子们一起在课堂里互动，和他们一起成长。

读书周是大人孩子都特别期待的一件事，整整一周小朋友回来每天都兴奋地讲学校里丰富多彩的各种活动，然后不停写写画画制作自己的书。孩子们而且都特别喜欢有妈妈来学校讲故事，还没进教室就被叽叽喳喳围着问这问那真的好欢乐。读书让我们对生活保有想象力，人生因此更有趣，希望宝贝们一生都热爱读书，希望学校的读书周每学期都可以举办一次！

对于整整一周的阅读周，虽然早有活动会很丰富的预期，但当翻看花絮照片，仍然收获了满满的惊喜。在这些照片中，我看到了孩子们阅读时的专注、交换书籍时的满足、为绘本故事配音时的欢乐、初试皮影戏时的惊奇……感谢老师们的精心策划，相信这一周与书为伴的日子会在孩子们的心中种下小小阅读者的种子，未来那粒种子会常被书香灌溉，长成一棵丰满而坚韧的大树。
P.S.阅读周结束一回到家，Alice放下书包的第一件事，“破天荒”地不是拿起玩具，而是拿出在老师那里获得的新书 “The Good Egg”，从头到尾仔仔细细看了个遍，又给妹妹讲了一遍，看来特别喜欢喔~

Having good reading habits is beneficial to people for their life. Thankyou Victoria for organizing such a wonderful reading week for the kids. In this week, the kids deeply understood a story by acting as a character of a book, learned collaboration through working as a team, making up a story with other team members. They also learned about Chinese traditional culture by playing Chinese shadow puppetry, as well as felt the happiness of sharing by exchanging their books…... Caitlin and Charlie enjoyed a lot this week. “I love reading week so much. I find reading can be such an amazing experience”. By participating in the variety of activities this week, Caitlin and Charlie will find more fun through reading books. I believe this will be helpful for them to form a good reading habits.

Teachers Help to Choos
老师助力选择权
As facilitators of the activity, Principal Evette and the teachers were behind the scenes supporting and inspiring our students to take initiative and have their own voice during Reading Week. Let’s see what the teachers felt about Reading Week.
作为学习者社区的助力者，园长妈妈和可爱的老师们，一直在幕后默默地支持和激发孩子的能动性，老师们也想分享一下他们的感受。
Ms. Evette园长妈妈：
尊重每位学习者社区成员的发言权，在反思中回顾我们的阅读周如何体现能动性。“腹有诗书气自华”。愿我们都成为一名“终生学习者”，让“阅读”和我们一直相伴。
Teacher Lincoln:
enjoyed reading ‘The Hungary Caterpillar’ - it was great to really
focus on the book in depth. The students learnt all about the
importance of respecting animals. They also got
to learn a lot about food. What they like or dislike.
The students really focused on what we should eat and why.
They know that it is okay to eat junk food but only very
little. They also know that eating their fruit and
vegetables will make them very brave & strong just like the
caterpillar. The students in K1B have always loved reading
but I think reading week has really helped them to look
deeper into a book and focus on the messages these books are
trying to give the young students.

有一只家喻户晓的“毛毛虫”，它的成长故事有趣而生动，在这次的“阅读周”里，它陪伴着我们K1的孩子们度过了美好、有趣的一周！为了能充分地激发孩子们的能动性，我们鼓励他们选择绘本中自己喜欢的角色来制作手偶，并鼓励他们大胆地念台词，尝试表演绘本。一开始，我们真有些担心他们画不出角色，也担心他们念不好台词。但是，事实证明孩子们的潜力是无限的，他们做得永远比我们想象的要棒！通过这次阅读周的活动，孩子们更热爱阅读，也更乐于表现自己了！

这一周我们班以“喜悦乐说”为核心，围绕着《好饿的毛毛虫》绘本开展了一系列与阅读相关形式多样的主题活动。在这些活动中，我们很欣喜地看到幼儿们对阅读的兴趣变得越发浓厚；喜欢主动地老师朋友们交流起故事中发生的情境、模仿起有趣的对话等等。孩子们还从故事中选择了自己喜欢物品制作成了表演的道具，自发地与小伙伴们合作进行了一场场童趣而精彩地故事表演SHOW。孩子们正用他们自己特有地方式给我们呈现出他们在阅读学习中的主观能动性和探究能力。4月23日也正值‘’世界读书日”，让书成为孩子们最好的朋友吧；小朱老师希望每个孩子们都能从“朋友”中获得快乐，在交流中提升自我，成为一名知识渊博的小小阅读者。
Teacher Jehan：
Students already had a good habit of grabbing a book to look through whenever they had free time. During reading week, students started to see books in new ways, seeing their parents visit for the sole purpose of reading favorite books, jumping into the stories to position themselves as the characters beneath word bubbles and making poses come alive, and noticing the how the costumes of students in other classes matched up to the book they were holding. The activities of reading week helped students see that reading was more than just words on a page, but could be brought to life and linked to more of their favorite things; their families, dressing up, art, and acting being just a few.
Cici孙老师：
阅读赋予智慧，故事陪伴成长，阅读让孩子们收获了知识和快乐。在阅读周活动中，孙老师发现我们班孩子的阅读兴趣被激发了，对同伴带来的绘本非常感兴趣，会主动阅读。孩子们穿上自己喜欢的故事角色服装，塑造人物形象，锻炼了模仿能力和表现力。愿每个孩子都热爱阅读，享受阅读的乐趣，吸收知识的养分，成为一名“超级阅读者”。
Lillian李老师：
阅读周通过丰富多样的活动形式激发了孩子们阅读的能动性，让孩子们发掘阅读的乐趣。活动中他们自主选择喜爱的绘本，在阅读中行使发言权充分表达自己的想法，并且把阅读的好习惯带到日常生活中，和爸爸妈妈们一起分享在学校听到的故事。非常开心看到孩子们喜爱阅读周的活动，也更热爱阅读。
Knowing how to use a book is a useful skill that will always be relevant. Although Reading Week is over, we hope that all the good habits discussed will continue to develop in our students.The love and enjoyment of reading will always be with us. We hope that all our students will come to know books as good friends.
